The Big Easy

Posted at 06:03 PM on March 31, 2009 Comments comments (1)

I am posting from my hotel room in New Orleans tonight. I have been here since Sunday for a work conference - hence my lack of posts.

And let me tell you - there is definitely a reason they call it the BIG Easy. Isn't it funny how life challenges you sometimes? I hit goal last week, and in my first week of maintenance I am thrown into a situation where I have little to no contro...

Travel Update

My husband and I made it home to Michigan in fairly good time (driving) on Saturday. We are here until next Saturday, then we are on to PIttsburgh to visit friends for a few days, then back home. As soon as we arrived at my in-laws, my wonderful mother-in-law showed me the healthy food she had, then had me make a list of additional stuff I would need and took me up to the grocery store. I really love her for being so supportive!

I Survived Thanksgiving

Posted at 08:53 AM on November 28, 2008 Comments comments (0)
I really think Weight Watchers should pass out shirts that say "I Survived Thanksgiving!" Anyways, I think I did fairly well, I ate all of my 22 daily points, plus all of my 8 activity points from running the Turkey Trot, plus 2.5 weekly points. Its a big point day, but not a crazy point day. Also, I tried to eat a lot of fruits & veggies, which made me feel very full:

Halloween is Scary

Tomorrow night, after sunset, ghosts and goblins will come out to haunt our neighborhoods. I am not so afraid of them BUT I am afraid of the mountains upon mountains of candy that will taunt my chocolate craving mind both at work and at home tomorrow!

I have waited until tonight to buy the candy that I w...

The Logistics of Eating Healthier

Posted at 10:04 AM on October 21, 2008 Comments comments (0)
So much has changed about my relationship with food from how I grocery shop to how I prepare food to how I actually undertake the act of eating something.  When you need to lose as much weight as I do, you have to recognize that in order to be successful you will need to make radical changes to how you eat.  Those changes don't need to happen all at once, but a few over time can add up to a lot less pounds on your body. The following... Read Full Post »

A Mixed Bag

Posted at 08:34 AM on October 14, 2008 Comments comments (0)

I neglected to post yesterday because I worked 12 hours at my nonprofit's charity golf tournament. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the time I arrived home, and headed straight for bed.

On the weight loss front, its been a mixed weekend. I went ou...

Update: Are Weight Loss & Chocolate Cake Mortal Enemies?

Posted at 08:15 AM on October 10, 2008 Comments comments (1)
No!

But only if you have chocolate cake in moderation and workout. I had my birthday this past week, which included not one but two pieces of cake (one at home, one at work), 2 lunches out, and one dinner out. On Weight Watchers, you can still live life and lose because at weigh-in yesterday I was down 0...

When the Going Gets Tough...

Posted at 02:41 PM on October 08, 2008 Comments comments (0)
As you can probably tell from my previous post, I had a fairly bad day at work yesterday. To top it off, I came home to an empty house because my dear husband is on a business trip. For the first time since I started Weight Watchers I had an intense urge to binge - and binge on terrible food like Burger King and Cold Stone.

Weight Loss & Chocolate Cake: Compatible or Mortal Enemies?

Posted at 11:49 AM on October 06, 2008 Comments comments (0)
I had a fantastic birthday on Saturday! My adorable husband even decorated the house complete with streamers, balloons, and a "happy birthday" sign. I savored both chocolate cake (one small slice) and smores (just one) in decent moderation, but couldn't control my wine drinking.  Ah well, birthdays only happen once a year and I really enjoyed spending time with my friends more than anything else (I talked more than I ate). Besides, I got ... Read Full Post »

In Other News...

Posted at 08:26 AM on September 30, 2008 Comments comments (1)
...besides running 3.1 miles this morning in record time, I also had a pretty productive weekend. I drove up to Pittsburgh to visit my best friend - her eggo is preggo and she had a baby shower this weekend.  I got to splurge and buy the impending little one some cute dresses at Babies R Us, and it was good to hang out with friends. And when I arrived home on Monday at 12pm, I used the rest of my day off to catch up on chores - cleaning t... Read Full Post »

Hungry Hungry Hippo

For those of us born in the 1980's, you remember that technicolor game where you tried to get your hippo to gobble up more marbles than your friend's hippo, right?

Well, that's how I feel today -...

Get In My Belly!

Posted at 03:32 PM on August 19, 2008 Comments comments (0)
The last few days have been difficult hunger wise. My stomach seems to have morphed into a black hole overnight. This is the first time on Weight Watchers that I have had an issue with feeling full. For the most part, the plan has done a good job of curbing my cravings.

But my stomach has been screaming ...
