I Lost Weight So I Could....

....go hiking with my handsome husband. Last weekend we completed Old Rag Mountain - a 9 mile hike, with a 2,500 foot elevation gain in the first 3 miles.

Now you fill in the blank. Make it something you have or want to accomplish - not just a number.

I am losing/lost weight s...

Halo vs. Horns: The Great Workout Debate

This cartoon says it all. I sometimes get asked how I find the motivation to workout as often as I do. The truth is, sometimes I don't have any motivation at all. Those are the times when the self-talk starts. First, I argue with myself:

Hello Double Digits!

Posted at 08:49 AM on March 09, 2009 Comments comments (0)

No, I am certainly not talking about my pant size. I am celebrating breaking the 10 mile mark on a run for the first time EVER! This past Sunday I ran 10 miles in 1 hour and 48 minutes. It felt good. I felt strong, invincible, and capable.

And then the muscle soreness set-in. And now I am waddling around work today.

Travel Update

My husband and I made it home to Michigan in fairly good time (driving) on Saturday. We are here until next Saturday, then we are on to PIttsburgh to visit friends for a few days, then back home. As soon as we arrived at my in-laws, my wonderful mother-in-law showed me the healthy food she had, then had me make a list of additional stuff I would need and took me up to the grocery store. I really love her for being so supportive!

Low Key Weekend

Posted at 08:11 AM on November 17, 2008 Comments comments (0)
I had an extremely quiet weekend, and that is a good thing. I was feeling a little run down this weekend, and decided to take a break from my intense workout schedule. I only did a brief 2 mile run on Saturday and nothing else (for comparison, my weekends usually include 60 minutes of pilates, 30 minutes on an elliptical, and a 5-6 mile run).

Get Your Booty Moving

Posted at 10:50 AM on October 27, 2008 Comments comments (0)
I attribute much of my success in losing weight to the fact that I exercise...often....and intensely. Exercise is NOT a dirty word. Yes, sometimes it totally sucks, but, unlike loafing around on the couch, I never feel guilty after I exercise. In fact, I always feel energized and proud of myself. Lately, I've had people ask me what I do for exercise in a week, or how I got to the point that I can run a 5k race. The answer is to start exe... Read Full Post »

It's Monday and This Girl is Smiling

Posted at 07:59 AM on August 25, 2008 Comments comments (0)

Why, do you ask, am I in such a good mood on a Monday morning? Especially since my last post indicated I was the exact opposite?

  1. By the end of the day on Friday, I had a major victory at work!

Dear Bicycle Seat

Dear Bicycle Seat,

Not only do you make my rump hurt, but in the middle of a 12 mile route, your nut decides to come loose, and thus I cannot sit on you without you pivoting wildly back and forth. Why do you hate me?

Feel the Burn

Posted at 08:38 AM on August 12, 2008 Comments comments (0)
After my 3 mile "run" last night (see post below), I am definitely feeling the burn today. My legs are so sore, I waddled the 3 blocks from my car to work this morning. Each steps feels as if my thigh muscles are being ripped from my femur bones. Fun.

No pain, no gain - right?

Accountability

Posted at 08:38 AM on August 11, 2008 Comments comments (0)
Yikes! I need some accountability today. I did NOT work out at all this weekend. I wasn't feeling well (EXCUSE) and I still stuck to my healthy eating (RATIONALIZATION).

Really, its like I have two people living in my head sometimes. Healthy Natalie (Workout! Eat Fruit & Veggies!) and Fat Natalie (Yu...
