How do you snap yourself out of a negative mood?

It all started yesterday at work. I write grants. I received not one, not two, not three, but FOUR declinations (a fancy way of saying "no") from foundations I had sent grants.

Then the sky opened up, and unleashed holy hell on earth during my commute home.

And when I arrived home, my usually loving husband was being a jerk, and failed to notice I was sending signals that I needed a little "pick me up" - if you know what I mean.

The Red Wings lost Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Then I did not get up to run this morning because I was feeling sorry for myself - and now I feel even worse I didn't go running.

To top it all off, I am bloated and feel gross in every piece of clothing I own.

I need a way to snap out of this, and fast!

I hope you are having a better day. Be proud of all that you have accomplished this last year. A massage always gets me out of a "funk".

whenever im having one of those days, that im so frustrated and mad to the point of tears..... is to tell myself (and i literally will say this out loud)..... "look at yourself, its not that bad, your day, your LIFE can be so much worse. think of all the people in the world who struggle with severe hurt on a daily basis, in the 3rd world countries children starving, beth, look at how blessed you are, healthy family, healthy self. this day could have been SO much worse."....... that usually puts things in perspective and then ill feel better the next day. just try to think of all the reasons that YOU are blessed in this life, as compared to all the people out there, that would LOVE to have "your" life.......over their own. **have a GREAT day** =) =) =) =) =)

I'm originally from Alabama...so I have a ton of "southern sayings" that spew out of me sometimes. One of them is from my pawpaw (that's redneck for Grandfather)... He used to say that if 100 people were to put their problems on paper and in a pot along with yours...you would most likely choose to have your own problems back. I try to think of that everyime I am having a bad day or feeling down.

I also agree with Sarah though, ... Just look at EVERYTHING you have accomplished Nat!!!

I love your Pawpaw's little lesson - I am saving that one to tell to my future children!

This is the same man that told me "If you dont feed a man he'll eat somewhere else!"

The sayings are endless and hilarious!

You need to put them all in a book - "Words of Wisdom" by Pawpaw
